Hola fellow Foroanos

Read an interesting report today.  The Natural Gas Foundation along with the University of Valladolid did a report with 31 experts from all over Spain, on co2 emissions and the forests of Spain.

The results showed that the Sierra Demanda between Burgos and Soria absorbs more green house gases than any other forest in Spain.  The Demanda in one year absorbed
95,244 tons of co2 ,which is twice as much as La Cordillera Cantabrica including Asturias, Cantabria and North CYL.

I don’t believe they are charging ‘polluting’ companies (yet) for their emissions, however if they did the villages in the area of Demanda could receive €1.93 million to help conserve these forests.  Apparently compensation better known as fines, are on the way, as La Comision de Agricultura y Ganaderia y Medio Ambiente de La Diputacion de Soria (pheew) are involved.

Good article here:

I say we all go out and plant a pine tree, anyone living in’ un piso’, look for a very BIG plant pot.

Adios amigos

Hi Alfredo,

Is this report on-line somewhere? I would like to read it... Specifically to find our why the Sierra de la Demanda absorbs more carbon? Is this to do with those huge and amazing pinus sylvestris up in the laguna negra area?

If you haven't seen it yet you may also enjoy

Not sure if its online. I read it in Soria Diario, a supplement in El Mundo.

I can scan it and email it to you if you like.  Yes those amazing Scots are the reason.
