Hi All
He/she sits on the TV aerial every day and sings its heart out, at first I was certain it was a yellowhammer, but now I am not so sure  Huh

I always get siskins and serins mixed up but it looks like a "scritchy scratchy" serin to me...They do go on a bit don't they.......Kind of gets under my skin Smiley

I say sisken by the tail..though they both look alike. Not a  yellowhammer, it has an unmistakable call of "little bit of bread and...no cheese".

I reckon Serin.  I agree about them going on a bit - but it's a nice sound to hear in February - a sign that spring's round the corner.

Hi Lucy,

Spot-on it is a fine (at least 2nd year) male Serin, handsome looking and pleasant enough sounding when many others are silent.

Have heard the serin's song described as being like two pieces of glass rubber together. Listen and you will hear that there is something in that description.
