Unfortunately, the flowers were all gone. They were probably small. The most remarkable feature was the nasty thorn at the end of the leaves....

Found on N. side of Sierra Nevada, alt. ca 1900m. Small shrub, less than knee high.

It looks like Astragalus granatensis. The flowers are a little hidden.
