Title: Very large grasshopper for ID, please
Post by: Trik on October 16, 2018, 19:19 PM
Photographed late September in La Janda.  It was even bigger than the Egyptian Grasshopper.  Despite trawling through over half of the photos in grasshoppersofeurope.com, I haven't been able to ID it yet, so hope someone here can help, please.

In case anyone is interested, I finally tracked down an ID and it is Acanthacris ruficornis or Brown-headed Grasshopper.  I think it's a type of locust.

With the "humbug" eyes it certainly looks like Anacridium aegypticum. I didn't realise other species had those eyes.
