Dear All
Our Black Redstart (Esp. Collirojo tizon) (Lat. Phonicurus ochruros) has returned, they are supposed to be resident here, but this particular one seems to disappear in the colder weather. However now, every morning, he is singing from the rooftop opposite, A strange song that starts well but ends with a rattle. They are engaging birds, in many ways similar to a robin. Our male, is very defensive in summer when the young appear, often giving me a telling off when I go out on the terrace. I think one of the young's first ports of call is the terrace, as we have seen them on it many times.
Regards
Dave
