Not sure whether this should go in here or mammals..anyway
Does anyone know of really good whale watching places and when to visit then to get best results. I know the starights of Gibraltor are good. Are there any other, perhaps less well known spots? Also what species of cetacean would I expect to see at them and when. Any help would be gratefully recieved as Im planning to come over to spain for a holiday in 2009 and would love to do a spot of whale watching as  a break from bug-hunting.
Cheers

Hi Andy,

I put together this page last year.

http://www.iberianature.com/material/Whale_and_dolphin_watching_spain.html

Other options are the Canaries and the Bay of Biscay. There are also sighting off the coast of Barcelona but there is no commercial opertaors at them moment as sighting are relatively low.

Or combine the Bay of Biscay with the Picos de Europa IberiaNature forum summit  Smiley (Bit early for insects though.)
