Hi All,

I have searched all my insect books for this insect but cannot find it anywhere , help required, please,
I have attached three photos to give all angles of it.

Hi All,

I have just had a reply from Professor Hardie in the UK to answer the query above.
It is a female Hornet mimic Hoverfly ( Volucella zonaria) the largest of the hoverflies,
it is totally harmless, and this species is present in most of Europe, in Tunisia, Iran,
Russia (to Far East) and in Mongolia.
