Are they likely to be found in flocks at 1600 m in young pines (in this case in the Sierra de Madrid)?

Can't see that it could have been anything else. Too large for Redwing.

Hi Glennie,

Yep, they can be found here in the Serrania de Ronda almost as high as 2000m. Also they are not uncommon, especially around any woodland and/or afforestation. Redwing on the other hand would be unlikely at this time of year.
