Very interesting stuff, especially regarding proposals to implement measures to prevent more road deaths in Doñana. I have been looking for information regarding the Andújar population also, specifically to what extent the lynx territory reaches into the Sierra de Cardeña (and thus the total range of the lynx in Andújar, and where they are densest.)
It seems politically aswell as ecologically insane to me the attitude of the government towards the lynx even in the last decade, extraordinary that an animal can fade to the point of extinction without consequence, anyway back on subject, thanks Nick a good read

Thanks for that Technopat,

The idea is seems is to impegnate domestic cats with Iberian lynx sperm - not to create some form of weird hybrid - but to check whether each male lynx's sperm is of sufficent quality to allow natural mating or whether artifcial insemination techniques need to be used.

Hola,

What will happen to the hybrid kits that are produced by this method of quality control?

Can just see the Xmas Special: "Want to buy your kid something really cool? Everyone's got parrots, tropical snakes, terrapins. Be the first on your block to walk a genuine Iberian Lynx. Buy our hybid lynx kit - comes with pedigree certificate, feeding bottle and litter tray (litter not included)."

Someone's got to watch the ROI.

I'm outta here!

Greetings All,
Beat me to it!
Begs the question: are these Clive's pre-assembled hybrid kits?

Greetings All,
If you haven't already done so, the interview with Miguel Delibes is def. worth reading:

http://es.eprensa.com/cgi-bin/show_article.cgi?dir=20060928&file=nwes1::abc.es__cordoba0500_049&subclient=CSIC&mode=&eurodatenoslash=28092006&keywords=coes1%3A%3ACSIC

and gets a good perspective on some aspects.
