    • Accommodation and Activities in the Picos de Europa
« on: November 10, 2007, 08:22 AM »
Next Thursday, 15th November we can all join WWF/Adena (E. en Acción, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, etc. etc.) in a protest on the necessity of urgent measures needed to combat climate change. Turn off electrics between 20.00 and 20.05 - let's see if we remember  >:D

Well it will be dark and so we will have some light from the fireplace and a couple of candles... It is highly possible that the romantic setting may mean that we don't come back online for a bit longer than 5 minutes :)

I've been thinking of this (turning the electricity off, I mean) all day and promptly remembered at 20.15.
Never mind, I've made a mental note to be even more careful with energy and water saving from now on.

But seriously.... Will we ever know how many people participated in this... Sue said that if like a million odd people did it and then all turned their mains power back on at the same time then the surge would probably blow the national grid up....

According to El País it didn't have as much effect as the one last Feb. Possibly due to the timing.

We were badly planned - our lights went off just after I had served supper.  So when we put lights on 20 mins later I had dinner all down my front ;D  Here of course the moon was up and our solar lights around the property it didnt feel terribly dark. Sky was magnificent tho'.SueMac
