I found this book while  googling for info on dates as are grown in Spain, not an easy task as I found out.  But the synopses of the history of regional foods was very interesting.  I believe she has also written a cookery book on Catalan food as well.  I intend to revisit and see what else I can glean in the way of recipes as well. The Levante section was particularly fascinating - with Murcia of course coming out very well ;D. Also discussion of the importance of the Mar Menor to the Romans for their salt.
