Title: Poisonous Jellyfish ??
Post by: treetop on March 21, 2012, 10:37 AM
Hi, can someone enlighten me re. the jellyfish i en counted north of Barcelona in 2011. I spent about 5 days swimming around Tossa De Mar
and brushed against several jellyfish during that time. For the next ten days i felt unwell but could not pinpoint the cause. It slowly got worse and after feeling seriously ill i went to hospital. I suffered a cardiac arrest ! Luckily medics were on hand and the damage to my heart is relatively minor. The medics were baffled as to what caused it. I was wondering if the jellyfish in Spain that i encountered might have caused it ? Are they poisonous in any way ? Can anybody help me with this. I felt feverish from the neck up and also a little nauseous. Have there been others that have had a similar experience to myself ? Any information would be appreciated.

Since posting this, i've done a google search on the subject and have got a lot of info from that. Def. a 'Man-o-war' from what i've seen and read.
