Title: Field Guide to the Amphibians & Reptiles of Britain & Europe - Speybroek et al

I've just managed to get a copy of this new book from Bloomsbury and it's absolutely first rate.  Superb artwork, photos, maps and, as far as far as I as a non-herpetologist can judge, a good text. The taxonomy is bang up to date; wall lizards are now eight (Bocage's, Carbonell's, Spanish, Catalonian, Guadarrama, Geniez's, Vaucher's & Common), Small Psammodromus three (Western, Edwards's & Spanish), Worm Lizard two (Iberian & Maria's), Ocellated Lizard two (Ocellated & Sierra Nevada Ocellated); many of the splits look identical (or nearly so) to their brethren but largely occupy different regions so the maps are very useful. Now I've no excuse to get top grips with this(http://) group.
