Its got a stubby nose and a short hairy tail so I am going for vole! :)

Hi All,

I found this animal running alongside the bank of the Rio Genil, this is the only photo I managed to get before it disappeared into the shrubs.
Is it the Brown Rat(Rattus novegicus) or the Southern Water Vole (Arvicola sapidus)?

Hello Syd,

The first two look like a Paronychia sp. and the second two could be Cachrys? ? C.sicula.

Thanks Clive, general consensus from other parties suggested it was a type of Cicada. I'm no expert but this sort of thing interests me. Thanks for your reply.

It has the shape of one of the water beetles but other than that I have no idea! :)
