Greetings All,
Pending contributions from iberianatureforumers in the region itself, nautical types :technodevil: and/or wind experts (eologists?), here's Wikipedia's take on the matter (the Sp. wikipedia article on this is not worth nuffin'):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viento_de_Levante

The 8 Mediterranean winds (all affecting the Ib. Pen.?) the article mentions (my translation) are as follows (do I see forthcoming threads devoted to each of these and the Atlantic ones ?):
Tramontane - Tramuntana, Tramontana
Gregale
Levanter - Viento de Levante
Sirocco - Siroco
Ostro
Libeccio
Zephyrus
Mistral - mistral - http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mistral_%28viento%29

Methinks-this-might-be-Nick's-field-(and-he's-probably-already-got-a-dedicated-section-up-on-iberianature) regs.,

It strikes me straight away that there seem to be a couple missing from the list.

There's the obvious Poniente (west wind) and Terral (northerly which comes our way in Southern Spain from the mountains in that direction).

I though I had compiled at least a list of winds but I don't seem to have done anything on this

All I can find is:

Spain is a windy country. Speeds of more than 175 km/h have been recorded in Los Llanos in Albacete , though winds of more than 200 km/h almost certainly occur around some of the higher peaks.
