Hi Lucy
Lovely report, as usual, here the Red Kites and Cormorants have returned the Blackcaps are calling from cover on the riverside, and our young Black Redstart is continuing to visit the terrace for his daily bath, in fact each year one youngster usually adopts our terrace, sometimes even roosting behind the chairs.
Regards
Dave

Happy New Year, Lucy
Even in our relatively modern building in León we have holes, often left after kitchens have been renovated and old appliances removed, being up to 10 storeys up they are left unfilled from the outside, and provide ideal nest holes for the local birds, the Magpies also use them to hide food.

Dave

Hi Lucy
Lovely report, how unusual to have such close contact with a Jay, unusually for a Corvid, they are very shy, and usually only seen as a fleeting glimpse.

Dave

Hi Dave, the jay's partner and offspring are both very shy.  This one seems to know his way around humans!

Hey Lucy, great stuff... I haven't seen a pheasant for years! The shape of the Hoopoe always makes me chuckle... It is the most ridiculous and lovely bird.... poop, poop poop...
