Hola

Well it's certainly been a cold one this year.  I have some stats for the last few days here in Soria.

Last night the lowest Temp was recorded at Castillejo de Robledo (Ribera del Duero) which was minus 18 degrees C and the average temp in the province was minus 13 degrees.  This was the 4th lowest temp in 45 years and created havoc on 33 secondary roads, because of the ice.

2,767 tons of salt has been used since last Friday (9th Jan) on the roads and 43 snow ploughs were operating. So this years crop of spuds will be 'ready salted'.

Big difference from last Jan, when we were sitting in the garden with Tshirts and shorts.

The forecast is for the temps to rise!   :clapping:

Greetings All,
Just over a year later, looks like it's an even harsher winter all round.

Mention of ready salted crops rang a bell and I found the following El País article that I'd read at around the same time as this thread appeared - and forgot to post:
"Varios países cuestionan la sal 'quitanieves' por su daño ambiental"

Yep, it's been so cold even the huskies forgot to allow extra stopping distance!
