Well done TP, we just need to remind ourselves again closer to the time

377 cities across 74 countries now committed to turning off their lights for one hour at 8.30pm on 28 March.

Greetings Lisa, Sue an' the Rest of You,
Don't forget tomorrow's the day :dancing:

I realise that to many some of you folks out there these little symbolic chorradas (En. anyone?) might seem a waste of time (no-one will pay any attention...) or unimportant on the scale of human values (people dying of hunger...) and a whole load of other excuses/reasons, but I can assure y'all that every little bit helps. (Remind me when we're sitting round Lisa's campfire to bore y'all with my story of the high court judge and how my daily dose made him wake up to reality...)

Candlelight-is-wonderful regs.,

hahahahahah... Genius! LISA! Tomorrow is EARTH HOUR !

But the genius really is that since the last Earth hour and this one I have fitted a solar and wind power system that will run my computers and stuff for hours and hours..... Also the odd light.... :)

So I will be here tomorrow checking to see who is on line at what hour....... PM's will be sent to those using mains power! :)

Note's on the fridge. (Again  ::) ) Is it because I watch hardly any tele or is this the first year that Earth Hour is being plugged in the media? I only catch the odd sentence on the radio or the odd glimpse of an ad on the tele, but just the fact that I've caught these means something's going on (or down?)

More concerned about remembering the clocks to be honest.

Quote
Millions of people worldwide are being urged off lights for an hour, in what is described as the biggest climate change protest ever attempted.

The initiative, Earth Hour, was begun in Sydney two years ago by green campaigners keen to cut energy use.

Correspondents say the aim is to create a huge wave of public pressure to influence a meeting in Copenhagen later this year to seek a new climate treaty.

Critics describe the event as a symbolic and meaningless gesture.

The switch-off is expected to take place in more than 3,400 towns and cities across 88 countries, at 2030 in each local time zone.

Meaningless it may be but I will be doing it just to say I did my miniscule bit to tell people around me that we could function just as well using a little less power... Mind you look what happened last time me and Sue had an earth hour blackout  ::)

For those of us who get mixed up 'bout local time vs GMT vs UTC vs EST etc.:

:dancing: :dancing:  :clapping: :sign: 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm local time Spain* (an hour later in Canarias)  :sign: :dancing: :dancing: :clapping: :clapping:  :clapping:
*including Galicia, for the time being :technodevil:

Have fun, folks!

I know someone whose teenage daughter is very keen on celebrating Earth Hour.  Her dad celebrates it by running round the house turning on all the lights, while she chases him turning them off again.  Is this a case of the environmentally conscious young generation struggling to teach parents set in old habits?  Well, actually it’s his way of getting revenge for her habit of leaving lights on all over the place the rest of the year.

A picture speaks a thousand words!

Those vegetarian kebabs will go very nicely with the chicken wings :) Don't worry, no one will find out....

Well done Lisa..... And the clocks? Did the clocks move forward as well? (earth hour day coincided with daylight saving time yeh!)

Only a little burnt  :) And forgetting to change the clocks until the morning after was a huge improvement on sleeping badly due to grumpiness at having an hour less sleep!
