I don´t know, Sue.  When the work was presented publicly here in Almería, they gave a free copy of the DVD and the 4 books to everyone there. Contact with the Malaga University in the same link.

Thanks for that, Jesús. :clapping:

By the w., out of personal curiosity, I was intrigued by the Spanish reference to biología vegetal, naturally (?) taking for granted that it was the translation of plant biology. A quick google, however, came up with the following:

I wrote to ask if these could be bought....

'La Flora de Andalucía Occidental' is published by Ketres Editora SA, whose address is: Provincial, 113-115 0801 5 Barcelona. Perhaps you could find information online on this Editoral and ask how to buy it. I bought some years ago in the library Proteus, in Malaga. I guess it still sold in many Spanish scientific libraries.

The Flora of Eastern Andalusia, however, is not sold (it is the Junta de Andalucía).

Both collections can be downloaded from the website of our department format

Nick, thanks for your offer of downloading these for me. If possible I'd like to get the books from the publishers, there may be others in western Andalucia who would also like a set (Mick?).
Nick do you know of this publisher?

Hi Sue, would the publisher be the Junta?

First of all:

Many thanks to Jesús for calling our attention to this excellent work!   :sign:

Next: I recently had problems with the link, so here is another one:

I've found it annoying that the flora is split up into 4 files! >:(  Fortunately, there is freeware to download, which can merge them. However: some of them can only work with files of a few Mb.

The one I ended up using was: PDF Split and Merge.   :)

With the Acrobat programme I have combined the 4 files (1848 pages). It is nice to be able to search the whole 4 volumes in one go. The one I have done for myself is high definition so the resulting file is 178MB. I can easily produce a smaller, lower definition file if required. If anyone would like a copy just drop me a PM or an email.

EDIT: I have now also combined the three volumes of Flora Vascular de Andalucía Occidental (290MB in HD)

Help needed!

When I'm trying to use this fabulous work in the proper way, I sometimes (well, often!) run into the problem that my big fat dictionary does not contain sufficient botanical terms!  :banghead: Can anyone suggest a good source of translation of such terms?   ???

Or should we perhaps start making one here?   :lighttbulb:

Hi Petrea, I can only recommend you a dictionary in Spanish. I don't know if there is any dictionary that translates these terms, anyway, they look similar in both languages.

Regards.

http://odnam.wordpress.com/glosario-botanico/

And this one available also as pdf (added Jun. 4 2013):
