In referece to a previous on another board

:) :)
Quote
As the Indignados say, "No hay pan para tanto chorizo".

To those who don't understand this, the Indignados are the "angry ones" camped out in the town squares of Spain at the moment. In addition to a sausage chorizo is also a crook (thief)

There isn't enough bread for so much chorizo

Not at night no, but we took young Albert for his protest to the square yesterday lunchtime where he was breast-fed under a haima. Very nice, friendly atmosphere, refreshingly free of Catalan flags, or any other flags for that matter. Lots of people standing round and debating.

The best for us was the remarkable guerrilla gardening of the old crap Parcs i Jardins flowebeds

I have a very small experience of protest marching in Spain, when we joined a march to protest against the development of Cala Mosca on the Cots Orihuela. It was a super atmosphere - children, goats and kids (the area of land has an ancient goat herding path) as well as the adults of all nationalities and two political parties. There was no violence, and the police stopped the traffic for us so we could cross the N332. Afterwards we all went and had a barbeque together.

In England a group of young masked thugs would have joined in and started destroying things.

The Spanish seem to have an inate ability for peaceful protest that often gets results. Do you remeber the silent protests after the terrible bombings in Madrid? It got results.

Rosie

PS. Our protest didn't stop the developement, but the economical downturn has - at least temporarily.
