Today, first orchid (Ophrys fusca, of course!) and Lathyrus (clymenum as well as tingitanus), just above the village!

Almonds and mimosas in full flower.  :)

A strange year: here we got a lot of rain in September, a reasonable amount in Oct. and then nothing since Nov. 6. The reservoirs in the province did not get their share of the Sept./Oct. lot, so it seems to have been fairly local!  :noidea:

Saludos

Here in León, warmer and wetter than usual, very little snow, even in the Picos de Europa,we have daffodil buds about to flower, about a month earlier, the worst thing was December, lots of misty grey days, whereas usually bright and cold

It's also been an unusual winter here in the Alpujarras, Andalucia. Very little rain and not very cold. I've even seen a couple of snakes in the last two weeks. Also today I saw my first Red-rumped swallow. The temperatures are set to drop significantly next week with a possibility of rain if the forecast is to be believed. I have my fingers crossed for rain as we have had three wild fires all, apparently, started by arsonists. (Ars - something anyway.)

Well, here in Grazalema the rain has finally started and hopefully it will last for a few days.... The countryside is so dry and the last few months far too warm.... All those plants and animals that thought it was already springtime will suffer a bit I think..... Tonight its 4 degrees and feels like winter again

Just a point of order, shouldn't this thread be Signs of Spring, 2016?
Maybe I'm missing something.

Now also Cistus albidus. Actually, I observed the first flower on Nov. 1  :o and have occasionally seen solitary flowers here and there later on. Now they seem to be starting up more consistently!

But damn, what a wind we´re getting these days!!! And it´s getting cold too!! Winter is catching up with us after all!  Hope that at least it will do away with some of the bugs which were thriving all too well in the warm weather!

Not sure this is a sign of spring: the crickets have started singing near the coast (which is not my usual habitat!). I heard the first one on Feb. 3. Is it normal for them to be active during the winter at low altitudes? In Cómpeta (650 m alt.) they usually start a week into June!    :noidea:

(Hey, the Iberianature sign is on automatically! I didn´t do it!)

Yesterday: first snake of the year! It was too fast for a definitive ID, probably a young Montpellier.
