Around here, the Agave americanas are flowering as if they had been payed to do so this year! Is that a general trend in other areas as well (perhaps also other Agave species)?

In my garden I´ve got 5! 3 of them were too close to the telephone cables, so decided to cut them. Now I wonder: will the plants still die? The Spanish gardener did not think so. He is probably right, because they are not "bleeding".

It does seem to be a flowering abundant year this year... There aren't that many over this way in Grazalema but those that are are putting up spikes.... I would think that if the spike had not reached full height and put on the seeds and plantlets then it may well survive... :)
