Encouraged by Xoe's massive reading list I was loaned and read the above book.  It does give a glimpse of Barcelona society in the  early twentieth century and it is a clever book but it suffers I think in the translation and really is a gothic novel - not in the same league as Winter in Madrid as far as I am concerned.

I have to disagree - I thought this a better book than 'Winter in Madrid' although I enjoyed both immensely.   I also thought that the translation was pretty well done!   Either way I think most people will enjoy them,
