Hi Ian, you think you're worried about coming to the Picos ? I'll have to brush up on me plants before heading to Grazalema  so don't worry on that front.
Basket weaving sounds great for (hopefully not) rainy days. Have a look at Santa Maria de Lebeña, Santa Maria de Piasca and, of course, the Santo Toribio monastery.
P.S. I've got a couple of chairs need restoring  >:D

All the reasons for the change sound very sensible.

Hi Lisa
Fully understand reasons for the change, but I am afraid that we will hopefully be in the swing of the holiday season, so not very likely that we will be able to make it.  Shame, had so looked forward to seeing the Picos.

I'm sorry you won't be able to make it Tony but it seems the most sensible thing to do. Hope to see you both here one day....

Hi Lisa  8)

As the summit is off for this year I am thinking to pop-up anyway within the next week or so, greatest chance is to leave here this Sunday!

Any ideas on places not to miss and recommendations for accommodation? Your help would be much appreciated.

Peter

Hi Peter, it would be lovely to see you next week. Jules (Oliva Rama) was just here and got the best views (and photos) of Wallcreeper - dust-bathing. I'm off up to Fuente De myself tomorrow so will be able to fill you in on them myself  ::) Anyway, I'll PM you about the accommodation.

The dates for the Picos summit have been brought forward a day because the 1st of May is the only date that Teresa can fit in. See start of topic. Please let me know here, as and when you can, the dates you'd like to attend so I can book you in  :)

Right you lot.  Spring is springing (yes even in the Picos) and it's time to start some serious planning. I need to know an idea of numbers, even if only tentative. The Madrid fraction is looking a cert. so book your bed now! I'm mentally planning excursions, the indescribable Lydia (don't brush up on your French, she's supposed to be learning English) will be lovingly preparing delicious dinners and the wildlife is prepared for you. Send me a pm or email please if you're thinking of coming, confirmations can be made later. Oh, and it's only €20 per head, per day, all in if you're over 16  :)

Whhoooo!

Only a couple of months away..... What's the plans so far Lisa?

Fuente de and a botanic walk with Teresa Farino?.... Exquisite French/Spanish cuisine and loads of that moonshine stuff from the  shop round the corner that pretends to sell cheese? :)

When you say "indescribable", do you mean "cute"? or is there something we should know........ When you say "mentally" planning excursions, do you mean that Mike is involved in this? (I have seen the photo of mike in the dining room.... Lost in snow dust and travelling very fast me thinks.. :) ) Maybe you are planning mental excursions... :)

Anyone who is not sure whether to "summit" or not... Just go! Lisa has a great place for a picos experience.

No Clive, a day on the snow round here just makes you sleep well  :)
Anyway, I think we'll be best avoiding the white stuff. I don't know where Teresa has in mind but the cable car will definitely be endured enjoyed one day.
My mental planning has been more along the lines of a bat detecting evening followed by a day of finding the Golden eagles.....or even Eagle owls  8) That's to be confirmed but is a possible at the moment for probably Sat./Sunday, 2nd/3rd.

So here are the probable Froomies;

Lucy arriving on the 29th, 'til the 4th/5th.
Glennie and Glenna Elena arrriving on the 1st in time for the day out with Tree Teresa.
Technopat + ? Arriving with Glennie.
Dave and Maria Arriving on the 30th, 'til Sunday.

Lydia will be on her best behaviour, I hope.
And I hope my legs will work  ::)

Yes, legs. They can be a problem.  :)

Golden Eagles sounds great.

I did that cable car trip once. Had to sit down and not look out of window.

Are the Golden Eagles near Brez?

Seem to remember hearing of a nest near there.

There was a nest there but they seem to have relocated. Still in the vicinity I think. Isidoro knows all about them and I'm hoping he'll take us. I'll be seeing him on Sunday. i'd like to see Black woodpecker. The last time I was out with him we heard one  8)

Greetings All,
Bit behind the times, I'm afraid.
Lisa, just a quickie to confirm that Technopat will be there, summitting away with the rest of 'em (+1 or 1.5? - planning weekends is difficult in the Technopat household - but hope to confirm today/tomorrow/next week), and yes, will be arriving with Glennie and Glenna Elena.

Looking-forward-to-finding-out-the-answers-to-some-of-Clive's-questions regs.,

Hello Glennie and Lisa

I'm  sure that Lisa knows of loads of good areas offering up the chance to see Black woodpecker but just in case i have often seen them in the woods above the Rio cubo near Cosgaya.

regards
